Announcing New Books and CD!

Hymns for Solo Voice III &
Hymns for Keyboard Performers II
I'm happy to announce two new books of music: "Hymns for Solo Voice III" and "Hymns for Keyboard Performers II"

In the book descriptions on my "complete music list" (see hotlink, top right) and on ldscds.com, you'll find a listing of the pieces in each of these books. A few favorites in  "Hymns for Keyboard Performers II"  include "All Creatures of Our God and King," "He Is Risen" and several more.

Sabbath Songs III  CD Released, Featuring 8 of My Pieces
Additionally, renowned tenor, Eric Hanson has just completed recording "Sabbath Songs III" (taking the project over since Clayne Robison's retirement) and is available through HeartRise Productions. (Go to www.ldscds.com and you'll find it there.) Eric has recorded eight of my arrangements, from "Hymns for Solo Voice II and III" on this CD. My two favorites are "Amazing Grace" and "Adam-ondi-Ahman", both with fiddle obbligatos and both found in the new release "Hymns for Solo Voice III". You can order the CD at www.ldscds.com, or purchase it at LDS bookstores.

New Stage Play by Layne Dearden with Songs by Daniel Carter

Layne is a recently retired faculty member of BYU Idaho. He was my first English instructor in college when BYU Idaho was still Ricks College, some 30-odd years ago. He tracked me down about three years ago and told me he was writing a play and wondered if I could be interested in writing music for it. I read the script was immediately captivated by the story. In between all the things that happen to us in life, we are working on this wonderful show. It's about a sheep ranching family in Twin Falls, Idaho. (I grew up in Boise Valley!) The father, Will Braddow, is just deceased. His wife preceeded him in death just a few years before. And now the family has come home to lay their father to rest, along with some very troubling skeletons in the family closet. The issues resolve themselves with humor, wit and poignancy. Siblings find hope and understanding in each other in a story in which nearly anyone can relate.

Keep watching here for updates on progress and readings.
